The boil water advisory that had been in effect for Cato residents over the long holiday weekend has been lifted.
The Cayuga County Health Department issued the emergency order last Friday after the water system lost pressure due to a water main break.
When water mains break and pressure is lost, untreated water can enter the system.
The most-recent samples collected this week confirmed that boiling was no longer necessary.
