The Hobart College basketball team picked up its third straight win, defeating Keuka College 94-63 in a non-conference game played in Bristol Gym on Tuesday night. Senior forward Jackson Meshanic led the way with his fifth double-double of the season on game-highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Statesmen (5-2) never trailed the Wolves (2-1) and were only tied once—at 2-all late in the first minute of play. Before the game was nine minutes old, Hobart had built a 10-point lead and maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the contest. The Statesmen led 46-31 at halftime and stretched their advantage to as many as 32 in the second half.
KEY STATS
- Hobart, which entered the game third in the nation in rebounding margin (+13.7), enjoyed another dominant performance on the glass. The Statesmen outrebounded the Wolves 52-22, upping their season average to 16.0.
- Hobart outscored Keuka 64-22 in the paint and 21-2 in second-chance points.
- The Statesmen shot 53.3% from the floor for the game, including 55.6% in the second half.
- The Wolves shot just 39.2% for the game, struggling in the second half (31.8%).
LEADING STATESMEN
- In addition to leading all players in points and rebounds, Meshanic also dished out a game-high six assists. He was 8-of-12 shooting and 3-of-5 at the free-throw line.
- Patrick Walker, Carter Meshanic and Aidan Rodgers each contributed 10 points. Carter Meshanic was 5-of-6 shooting, Walker was 5-of-7 and Rodgers was 4-of-6 with a pair of 3-pointers.
- Evan Goldberg narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and nine boards in just over 12 minutes of play.
- Isaiah Washington also chipped in nine points.
ON THE HORIZON
- Hobart will conclude its five-game homestand this weekend with a pair of Liberty League games. Hosting No. 19 Rensselaer (5-1, 0-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and conference preseason favorite Vassar (3-1) Saturday at 4 p.m.
