For the first time since 2015, the Syracuse Orange men’s soccer team is headed to the Elite Eight.

The three-seeded Orange (16-2-4) blanked the 14-seeded Cornell Big Red (14-4-1), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The game was scoreless until the 82nd minute when Giona Leibold blasted one past Cornell’s goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg on a pass from Russell Shealy, pushing Syracuse past the Big Red.

Syracuse will host Vermont (16-3-2) in the Quarterfinal next weekend. The date and time are to be determined.
