The Syracuse Crunch (7-7-2-2) mounted a comeback but fell to the Providence Bruins (11-2-3-2), 6-5, in overtime on Saturday night at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Syracuse trailed 4-2 after two periods and 5-3 halfway through the third but scored two-straight goals to tie the game, including one with 44 seconds left in regulation. A minute into the overtime period, Chris Wagner netted the game-winning goal for Providence.
Felix Robert scored twice for Syracuse, while Simon Ryfors, Ilya Usau, and Gabriel Fortier also found the back of the net. Max Lagace started in net and stopped 25-of-31 shots.
The Crunch will be back in action next Friday when they take on the Belleville Senators at CAA Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
