One in custody on violent felony charges after Thanksgiving domestic incident in Ithaca

Police say an Ithaca man faces an array of felony charges after a violent domestic incident on Thanksgiving.

It happened around 7:18 p.m. when police were called to a domestic incident in progress in the 100 block of Cherry Street.

Upon arrival, officers separated the involved parties. Investigation determined that one of the subjects involved had outstanding charges related to a domestic incident on October 6th, 2022.


The previous incident occurred at the same location.

The suspect was identified as Gregory Hayden, age 40, of Ithaca, who was taken into custody and arraigned on several charges.

Hayden was charged with first-degree robbery, as a Class B violent felony; second-degree strangulation, as a Class D violent felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, as a felony; and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, as a Class E felony. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of assault.

Hayden was transported to the Tompkins County Jail and held on no bail.
