Road rage shooting under investigation in Farmington: Shooter sought by deputies

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a shooting that occurred on Mertensia Road north of State Route 96 in the town of Farmington.

According to a news release, it happened a little before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

At this point in the investigation, deputies say the shooting appears to be related to a road rage incident. One male victim suffered a gunshot wound and was treated at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The victim has since been released. Deputies said the suspect’s vehicle is described as a silver or gray, four door sedan with tinted windows. It was seen traveling east on Route 96 from Victor toward Farmington moments before the shooting.

After the shooting the vehicle was observed traveling north. The sheriff’s office has information that a person walking south on Mertensia just prior to the shooting was observed.

Deputies are asking anyone who was in the area to contact the sheriff’s office.
