A proposition on the ballot in Cayuga County appears to have passed. But it will require a recount.
The Auburn Citizen reports that the measure to reduce the size of the Cayuga County Legislature passed by a small margin.
However, due to the closeness of the outcome – a manual recount will be needed.
The proposition passed by 72 votes. Any margin under 0.5% in the state requires a recount.
There were more than 25,000 ballots cast in the election.
Under the proposal the legislature is being downsized from 15 to 11 legislators.
