Two seriously injured after three-car crash on Rt. 14 in Geneva

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the serious crash that shut down part of Route 14 on Friday.

First responders were called to an area of Route 14 near White’s Point in the town of Geneva at 11:10 a.m. for the report of a multi-vehicle crash.

According to a news release, Menja Holtz, 44, of Germany was traveling south and had stopped for a vehicle in front of her that was waiting to turn left to White’s Point.

Alexander Brewer, 29, of Jasper was traveling in the same direction in a Peterbilt tractor-trailer behind Holtz when he realized he could not stop in time to avoid collision.

He veered left, striking Holtz’s vehicle in the rear, then colliding head-on with a northbound vehicle operated by Daniel Cohen, 53, of Painted Post.

Cohen and his passenger, a 51-year-old also from Painted Post, had to be extricated from their vehicle. The passenger, Andrea Cohen, 51, had to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where she’s listed in critical condition. Daniel Cohen was transported by Finger Lakes Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital. He’s listed in stable condition at this time.

Brewer was transported to Geneva General Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while the accident reconstruction team worked at the scene.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation remains active. White Springs and Bellona fire departments responded. New York State Police also assisted at the scene.
