The Buffalo Sabres dropped their fifth straight with a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday night at KeyBank Center.
Buffalo went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the league but allowed three unanswered goals, including two late in the third period.
Tage Thompson scored a highlight-reel goal while the Sabres were shorthanded in the first period. Buffalo had several grade-A scoring opportunities but could not get anything else past Boston’s backup goaltender Keith Kinkaid. Craig Anderson stopped 27-of-30 saves in the loss.
Buffalo went 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres will try to snap their skid and end their four-game homestand with a victory on Tuesday night when they welcome the Vancouver Canucks to town.
