$200,000 will be given to a cat shelter in Victor in order to renovate and improve their builiding and program.

The state chose Pet Pride of New York, located in Victor, to receive the $200,000 Companion Animal Capital Fund. Pet Pride of New York is a no-kill cat shelter and they will use the money to create a new wing for the building. This area will provide intake, isolation, veterinary services, and more.

Another $5 million dollars will be invested in other animal across the state. Animal shelters have found themselves incredibly full, especially in the Rochester region, according to News Channel 10.

To help alleviate the crowding, Rochester Animal Services Center has lowered their adoption fees for the remainder of 2022. It will now cost $30 to adopt a cat and $50 to adopt a dog. The shelter is also looking for families willing to foster animals.
