The longest serving faculty member at Hobart and William Smith Colleges has passed away.
Professor Grant Holly died earlier this week, according to HWS officials.
Holly joined the faculty in 1970.
President Mark Gearan called him a valued friend to colleagues, and said he would be missed dearly in an email to the school community.
“He was a valued friend to his colleagues, providing advice, counsel and support. He died doing what he loved, showing students the joy and wonder of film. I prized his friendship over many years, enjoyed wonderful conversations with him about film, literature and family, and admired his dedication to our students and alums. Grant will be dearly missed,” Gearan wrote.
Holly was survived by his partner Susie Wertman, as well as children Lauren and Nick. He established the “A” Fund in 1992 to honor his late-son Alexander Holly.
