And finally, a good question about the lottery. How valid are drawings? News10NBC recently looked into that question, wondering what mechanisms are in place to keep them accountable.
There have been circumstances when drawings have seen the same numbers. It’s even happened on the same day before.
The odds of that occurring sit around 1-in-576,000.
So, what’s being done to keep drawings valid?
The commission that runs the lottery tells News10NBC that it’s all mechanics. “The results from the mechanical draw machines and game processes of both drawings were properly vetted and verified by on-site independent auditors,” lottery officials said in an email. “Statistically, there is no relation between the numbers drawn across drawings so the odds of a given set of numbers occurring in any Take 5 drawing are 1-in-575,757.”
