BOCES Director for Cayuga-Onondaga retires

Steve Woodward is retiring after his thirty years in the education field, including fifteen of them most recently with Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES.

Woodard joined BOCES in 2007, but before that he worked as a teacher. He worked in Batavia, Moravia, Groton, and Dryden districts. He also worked as a coach, principal, and athletic director.

His last week at work featured “Woodard Days” which his coworkers had planned. It focused on all the things they liked about working with Woodard.

Woodard’s wife gave him a box of his “ugliest” ties to bring in, but he wasn’t aware of the contents of the box. The staff were able to celebrate “Woodard ties” one of the days.

Woodard often discussed how he had a wonderful staff and students, and they were able to meet the needs of students in ways the school systems could not.

He plans to play even more golf, travel, and spend time with his kids who are focusing on school and sports right now during his retirement.
