Cornell falls to Boston College in season opener on last-second layup

The Cornell Big Red men’s basketball team hung with the Boston College Eagles but fell just short, 79-77, in the season opener on Monday night at Conte Forum arena.

The game was tied at 77 when Prince Aligbe hit a layup with 0.9 seconds left in the contest to give Boston College the victory.

Nazir Williams scored 17 points to lead three Big Red players in double figures, with Greg Dolan adding 13 and Keller Boothby chipping in 11. Dolan added six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Chris Manon scored nine points with four assists, three rebounds, and three steals and Sean Hansen had nine points and six rebounds. In his Cornell debut, Max Watson scored seven points, including the game-tying 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining. Cornell assisted on 18 baskets, hit 13 3-pointers, and collected 13 steals in the loss

Cornell will try to bounce back on Thursday when they host SUNY-Delhi at 7 p.m.
