Sabres blow third-period lead in 5-3 loss to Lightning

The Buffalo Sabres led 3-2 with 13 minutes remaining but could not hold on as they fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-3, on Saturday night at Amalie Arena. With the loss, Buffalo drops to 7-5-0 on the season.

Zemgus Girgensons, Casey Mittelstadt, and Jeff Skinner found the back of the net. Owen Power tallied two assists while Kyle Okposo, Dylan Cozens, Tage Thompson, and Alex Tuch each added one. Eric Comrie turned aside 26-of-30 shots.


Buffalo went 1-for-3 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will be back in action on Tuesday night when they open a four-game homestand against the Arizona Coyotes.
