One day after tenants at Great Northern Mall learned that they would have to vacate in less than four weeks as their leases were being terminated – the next owner of the property intervened.
But it’s not all good news for tenants, as CNYCentral learned.
The letter that was distributed to tenants indicated that the mall would shut down permanently on November 20th.
Guy Hart Jr., the head of Hart Lyman Company, told CNYCentral that he was surprised by the notices going out to tenants. He immediately got in touch with current owner Mike Kohan, and told tenants they would not have to leave yet.
Plans for Great Northern are for it to be leveled and rebuilt. Tenants say they are left feeling uncertain about what’s going to come next.
Hart’s company has not specified how current tenants will be looped into future development plans.
However, at this time there isn’t even a firm closing date between the two who will enter into contract to move ownership from Kohan to Hart.
