Deputies say Ovid man possessed .50 caliber assault weapon with large-capacity ammunition feeding device illegally

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Ovid resident following an investigation.

Johnathan Swick, 30, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt.

It’s alleged that Swick possessed a .50 caliber assault weapon and a large-capacity ammunition feeding device while a court order of protection was active.

That order barred him from possessing firearms, deputies said in a press release.

Deputies were assisted by state police.
