The Syracuse Crunch fell into an early hole and could not climb out of it as they were downed by the Cleveland Monsters, 4-2, on Saturday night at the Upstate Medical University Arena. With the loss, Syracuse dropped to 1-6-0 on the season.

Simon Ryfors and Darren Raddysh netted goals for the Crunch, which both came in the third period. Alex Barre-Boulet tallied two assists, while Gemel Smith and Raddysh collected one. Hugo Alnefelt turned aside 32-of-26 shots.

Syracuse went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Crunch will try to get back in the win column on Wednesday when they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans at 7 p.m.
