Wayne County Sheriff Robert Milby says his office is assisting the Dewitt Police Department with a missing person investigation.
David Benz, 68, from Jamesville was reported missing by his family after he left his home in a vehicle and failed to pick up his daughter from work on October 20th.
Benz was operating a red 2012 Honda Civic Sedan.
According to Milby, Benz’s vehicle was found at the Wolcott Family Dollar on Whiskey Hill Road on Monday night. He may be wearing a dark-colored long sleeve top, light-colored jeans or khakis, dark colored footwear and a ball cap.
He wears glasses and was last seen on foot in the area of New Hartford Street.
Benz is known to frequent state forests and his vehicle may be in or near parking areas for trailheads in these locations.
Anyone who believes they see Benz are asked to call 911 immediately.
