Good news for taxpayers in Yates County: The tax rate should drop again.
There’s a project 9% spending increase in the Yates County budget, but the property tax rate there will decline.
County Administrator Nonie Flynn said the budget has a total spend of a little under $50 million. The total levy reduction is approximately $600,000.
The reduction means that the tax rate will drop from $5.51 per $1,000 of assessed value to $4.95.
A public hearing on the budget is slated for November 17th.
