What’s the deal with the Stanley Post Office?
That question was posed to our newsroom on Thursday. According to an announcement from the U.S. Postal Service, the Stanley Post Office located at 2102 State Route 245 is closed until further notice.

Current Post Office Box customers in Stanley have been temporarily transferred to the Hall Post Office located at 4858 State Route 14A.
Hours at the Hall location are Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Officials said in an announcement that mail delivery will continue normally in Stanley. However, customers will be directed to the Hall Post Office to pick up vacation mail, signature-required items, or oversized packages.
As of October 14th when the closure was announced a timeframe for completion of repairs had not been determined.
The work necessary on the building was described as ‘unforeseen roof repairs’.
With all of that information before us, we took these questions to the USPS. Paul Smith, from the Eastern Area Office in Philadelphia responded with the following:
Hi John:
“The Stanley Post Office is temporarily closed due to unforeseen roof repairs. It has 3 employees. It is a leased facility and a timeframe for completion of repairs in Stanley has yet to be determined. We will provide updates when we have additional information and thank our customers for their understanding. Delivery service will not be affected and retail services will be provided at the Hall Post Office at this time.”
Best,

While he addressed the number of employees and ownership status of the Stanley Post Office USPS reps weren’t able to provide additional detail on the repair timeline or duration of roof-related issues with that location.
