The Seneca Town Board will weigh in on the future of the Ontario County Landfill at a meeting tonight (Tuesday, October 18th).
The meeting will happen at its Flint Road municipal building at 7:30 p.m.
The 389-acre landfill is at the center of a broad debate across Ontario County.
Should it stay, or should it go?
The Ontario County Board of Supervisors will have the last word on the landfill – ultimately deciding its fate. The Town of Seneca feels like it has stake on the matter.
It’s unclear which way the Town Board will go. There are two motions on the agenda: One calls for landfill operations to end in 2028, while a second supports continued operation beyond that date.
The Town conducted a survey, where 60% of residents favored keeping the landfill operational beyond 2028.
