The New York Yankees held off the Cleveland Guardians, 4-2, on Sunday night at Progressive Field to force a win-or-go-home Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Monday night in the Bronx.

Gerrit Cole tossed seven dominant innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits while walking one and striking out eight. Clay Holmes and Wandy Peralta recorded the final six outs to secure the victory.

New York scored three of their four runs in the first two innings. Anthony Rizzo gave the Yankees an early lead with an RBI single in the top of the first. Harrison Bader crushed a two-run home run in the top of the second to make it 3-0. He has homered in three of the four games in this series.

Giancarlo Stanton added a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth.

The Yankees will hand the ball to Jameson Taillon for Game 5. The winner will face the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series.
