YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins will host Trunk or Treat on October 22nd

The YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County is presenting their second community Trunk or Treat from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 22nd, at the YMCA’s facility at 50 Graham Road West. Numerous local organizations will set up in the YMCA parking lot to give out treats and information to participants. The event will follow the YMCA’s annual Open House, which will take place 1-3 p.m. Both events are free and open to all.

After last year’s Trunk or Treat drew several hundred people, the Y is ready again to welcome local families for a fun, community-building afternoon. Certificates will be awarded for the best costume and the best decorated trunk.

“I’m really excited,” said Christie Thornton, the incoming CEO for the YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County. “I have found this community to be so welcoming, and am looking forward to seeing the children and their families ready to celebrate with the YMCA. We invite and encourage everyone from the community to join us for this event!”

Each program will also be an opportunity to learn more about the YMCA community and activities in aquatics, childcare, fitness, and recreation. During the Open House, group exercise instructors will hold a showcase of their classes, and YMCA staff will offer face painting and family-friendly arts and crafts alongside a bounce house. While the pool will be unavailable, visitors can try out racquetball, pickleball, table tennis, billiards, cardio and strength training equipment, and more.

Committed Trunk or Treat organizations include Cayuga Health Systems, the United Way of Tompkins County, Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit, the Tompkins County Health Department, Family Reading Partnership, the Girl Scouts of NYPENN, the Finger Lakes Toy Library, the Ithaca Dragon Boat Club/Ithaca Asian American Association, TST BOCES, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services, Cornell Phi Sigma Kappa, GreenStar, Tompkins Community Bank, CFCU Community Credit Union, Maguire Family of Dealerships, Fidelis, Excellus, and Pink Zebra.
