A graphic novelist is coming to Wells College.

The college announced that on Tuesday, October 18th graphic novelist and Marvel Studios Animation Character Designer Ethan Young will be visiting Wells to discuss and share his work in two free, public events.

Young is the author of Nanjing: The Burning City, which won the 2016 Rueben Award for Best Graphic Novel. He has written several other graphic novels, in addition to designing numerous comic book covers.

At 5 p.m. in the Stratton Building, room 209 on the Wells campus, he will offer a master class entitled “Designing Characters for Page and Screen” in which he’ll discuss several characters he’s designed or worked on and the relationship between shaping a character’s visuals and developing that character’s identity.

At 7 p.m., also in Stratton 209, he will share the range of his work, from comic book covers to designing panels to his own award-winning graphic novels. The talk will include both readings from his work and a discussion of the process.

If you like comic books, superheroes, graphic novels, great stories, or cool art, you don’t want to miss Ethan Young’s visit. Please join us at Wells for an event that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The College is located at: 170 Main St, Aurora, NY 13026. For those who do not wish to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed on the Wells Visiting Writers Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WellsVisitingWriters.
