Crunch fall short in shootout loss to Monsters

For the second day in a row, the Syracuse Crunch fell to the Cleveland Monsters in a shootout, this time by a score of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Syracuse led 3-2 going into the third period but surrendered the lead before tying the game with 12 seconds remaining to force overtime. After both teams failed to score in the extra period, the game was decided in a shootout, and Cleveland netted the lone goal to earn the victory.

Simon Ryfors, Felix Robert, Darren Raddysh, and Jack Finley scored for Syracuse. Alex Barré-Boulet tallied three assists.

Hugo Alnefelt made his first start of the season and turned aside 30-of-34 shots. He stopped 1-of-2 shots in the shootout.

Syracuse went 1-for-3 on the power play while finishing a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Crunch will get six days off before they take on the Rochester Americans on Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
