Police say a 35-year-old who was climbing around Ithaca Falls has died after an incident described as a drowning.
Police were called to the base of Ithaca Falls off Lake Street on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old male who was unconscious, not breathing, and had just been pulled from the water by several bystanders.
CPR was started until Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance personnel arrived to assist.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Harish Nekkalapu, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was transported to Cayuga Medical Center, but later died from injuries sustained in the fall.
Police say the person was climbing on the base of the Falls to take a picture and slipped into the water.
The incident has been labeled accidental.
