The New York Mets’ postseason run ended early as they were blanked by the San Diego Padres, 6-0, in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series on Sunday night at Citi Field.
The Mets are the first 100-win team to fail to reach the Division Series since the Division Series was implemented in 1995.
New York’s offense was abysmal as they had just one hit, which came from Pete Alonso in the fifth inning.
Chris Bassitt allowed three runs on three hits over four innings while walking three and striking out two. Mychal Givens surrendered two runs, and David Peterson gave up one.
The Padres will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series, while the Mets will turn their attention to the offseason.
