Steuben sex offender accused of taking teens out-of-state without parents permission: Now charged with kidnapping as violent felony

Authorities say a Bath sex offender now faces kidnapping charges after a new incident in Steuben County.

According to police, Anthony Kroeger, 62, of Bath is accused of taking a 14-year-old out of state for two days without consent of his parents.

They didn’t know Kroeger, and police said there were two other 17-year-old students from Bath taken to Washington, D.C.

All three teens were in custody of Child Protective Services in Washington and will be returned to Steuben County.

Kroeger is a five-time convicted felon, according to police, who say he recently completed parole after serving 4-11 years for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old.

Police say the kidnapping charge will be considered a violent felony offense when arraigned.
