The New York Yankees bullpen keeps taking hits.
Ron Marinaccio was placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to October 3) with a stress reaction to the right shin, the team announced ahead of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Manager Aaron Boone said Marinaccio could return for a potential American League Championship Series. The right-hander pitched to a 2.05 ERA with 56 strikeouts across 40 appearances.
In a corresponding move, New York reinstated Albert Abreu from the 15-day injured list and added him to the roster.
The Yankees now have five relievers on the injured list, including Chad Green, Zack Britton, and Michael King, who are out for the season.
