Police say they’re investigating a robbery that was interrupted by the homeowner.
On Tuesday, October 4th around 1:45 a.m. police responded to a burglary that had just occurred in the 200 block of North Plain Street. The homeowner reported to 911 that the suspect fled the scene and provided a direction of travel.
At about the same time, a deputy with the sheriff’s office who happened to be traveling through the city witnessed a subject matching the description given.
Responding IPD patrols and the deputy coordinated to take the suspect into custody. Further investigation indicated that the suspect was confronted by the homeowner during the burglary and subsequently injured.
The suspect was airlifted to an area trauma center. Their injuries are not life threatening, police said.
Charges are pending against the subject. However, additional information could not be released due to the investigation being ongoing.
The homeowner involved is not facing any criminal charges, police said.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to call IPD.
