The New York Yankees fell to the Baltimore Orioles, 2-1, in the series opener on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

Domingo Germán surrendered both runs on three hits over 5 1/3 innings while walking three and striking out six.

The lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning on Oswaldo Cabrera’s fifth home run of the season. He collected two of the team’s four hits.

Zack Britton made his third appearance since coming back from UCL surgery and left the game after walking a batter and throwing a wild pitch to the backstop, which allowed Baltimore to plate their second run.

Ron Marinaccio, Aroldis Chapman, and Scott Effross had scoreless outings.

Nestor Cortes will get the ball on Saturday as the Yankees will try to bounce back, and even this three-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
