Pair of Syracuse golfers qualify for U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship next May

Sectional qualifying for the 2023 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship was conducted by the New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) at Brookfield Country Club on Thursday, September 29.

One qualifying pair was Kevin VandenBerg of Pulaski and Brad Monroe of Syracuse. They were able to shoot the low round of the day with an 8-under 64. Their round consisted of two eagles, five birdies, and a lone bogey on the final hole.

The other pair to qualify was Tony Hejna of Cleveland, OH, and Jamie Miller of Silver Creek. Hejna / Miller were able to secure the spot in a playoff.


VandenBerg and Monroe will now head to Johns Island, SC to play in the championship at Kiwah Island Golf Club on May 20-24, 2024.

CNY’s VandenBerg/Monroe and WNY’s Hejna/Miller Qualify for 2023 USGA championship
