CONCRETE JUNGLE: Judge Hammers 61 and the Mets’ Biggest Series of the Year (podcast)

It took a week, but Aaron Judge has finally tied Roger Maris for the American League record for home runs hit in a season at 61. Paul Russo and Kyle Evans discuss witnessing the moment last night live. The guys talk about the weight lifted off of Judge’s shoulders with the home run hit as well as the Yankees clinching the AL East. Paul and Kyle give a shoutout to the AA Somerset Patriots who won the Eastern League crown last night over the Erie SeaWolves. With a travel day today before the weekend series hosting Baltimore, Paul and Kyle talk about what to expect from the Yankees the rest of the way before the season wraps up in Texas next week.

The Mets have been making headlines as well since Monday, notably for things out of their control. The series against the Marlins was split but did include Pete Alonso hitting home run number 40 on the season. Paul and Kyle talk about the series that was and offer their thoughts on Marlins pitcher Richard Bleier balking three consecutive pitches. The guys then focus on the upcoming series scheduled in Atlanta and the controversy surrounding the Braves decision making with Hurricane Ian making landfall.

Rochester and Syracuse both wrapped up their seasons this week. The guys talk about the last games played along the Thruway Corridor for the year and who stood out all season in their eyes.
