Canandaigua could authorize $28.7 million in wastewater treatment plant upgrades this week

Canandaigua City Council will vote this week at a meeting too authorize $28.7 million in upgrades to the city’s water resource recovery facility.

It’s the wastewater treatment plant for the city that requires the upgrades.


The contract has already been awarded to Johnson Controls of Rochester for a biosolids improvement project.

The facility is 40 years old on Saltonstall Street, and in need of updates.

The Rochester-based Johnson Controls will develop a turnkey project to make improvements at the facility seamless.

The project is being financed by a $30 million bond.

The facility has been upgraded in 1980, 2003, and 2011.
