New York Mets All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso was named National League Co-Player of the Week, Major League Baseball announced Monday. He shared the award with St. Louis Cardinals designated hitter Albert Pujols.
Alonso posted a .333/.407/.917 slash line to go along with nine runs, eight hits, two doubles, four home runs, and 13 RBI across six games.
Following his performance on Sunday, the two-time Home Run Derby Champion established a new Mets single-season RBI record with 128 on the season, passing the previous mark of 124 shared by Hall of Famer Mike Piazza (1999) and David Wright (2008).
Alonso is the second Mets player to earn the weekly award this season, joining shortstop Francisco Lindor.
