The New York Mets offense exploded on Sunday evening at the Coliseum as they pounded out 19 hits and cruised past the Oakland Athletics, 13-4.
Everyone in the starting lineup contributed in some capacity. Seven of the nine batters recorded multi-hit games. The offense was led by Pete Alonso, who collected four hits and five RBIs, including his 39th long ball of the season. Francisco Lindor registered three hits and three RBIs, while Eduardo Escobar also notched three hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Max Scherzer tossed six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. Adam Ottavino and Drew Smith each fired a scoreless inning in relief. Seth Lugo surrendered three runs but recorded the final three outs.
The Mets will get the day off on Monday before opening a two-game set with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.
