A Rochester developer sees more potential in Canandaigua.
That’s not a surprise, but the latest acquisition of Capstone Real Estate Development is the current, and soon to be former, Canandaigua YMCA building on North Main Street.
Don Lasher told the Finger Lakes Times that the deed was transferred in August. However, the price of the deal was not disclosed.
Lasher indicated that the Y would be a tenant until their new campus is complete. That’s when Capstone will begin renovating the property.
There won’t be any residential use at the property, and most of the components that make it a functional YMCA – like swimming pool and gym – will be removed during renovation.
Capstone is behind another successful redevelopment project in Canandaigua – the overhaul of the former Lisk Manufacturing Company, which is now Factory 243. That project features a combination of housing and commercial.
The YMCA is expected to be in its new location at some point in late-2023.
