Carlos Rincon’s grand slam lifts Syracuse Mets over Worcester

Carlos Rincon’s ninth-inning grand slam lifted the Syracuse Mets over the Worcester Red Sox, 9-5, on Sunday afternoon at Polar park. With the victory, Syracuse won four of the six games in the series.

After Worcester plated two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at 5-5, Rincon smacked one over the left-field wall for a grand slam, his fourth home run of the season. Then, Grant Hartwig closed it out with a scoreless ninth inning.

Earlier in the game, Nick Dini crushed his 11th homer of the season. Jake Mangum drove in a pair of runs with a triple, while Deven Marrero and Yolmer Sanchez chipped in with RBIs.

Nate Fisher surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings of work for the Mets.

Syracuse will close out the season with three games against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at NBT Bank Stadium, beginning Monday night.
