Logan Verrett shines as Rochester Red Wings even series in Buffalo

Logan Verrett tossed six innings of one-run ball to help lead the Rochester Red Wings to a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Friday night at Sahlen Field. With the win, the six-game series is even at two games apiece.

Rochester jumped out an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly from DJ Peters. The Red Wings added to the lead in the top of the sixth. Jake Alu smoked an RBI single, Adrian Sanchez smashed a two-run double, and later scored on a wild pitch to make it a 5-0 game.

Buffalo finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a Stevie Berman RBI single. The second run came on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh.

Reed Garrett picked up his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The series will continue on Saturday at 1:05 p.m.
