Deputies: Driver flees scene of accident after hitting utility pole in Tyre

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says a Waterloo man was issued several tickets after a vehicle in his name left the scene of an accident in the area of State Route 89 and Armitage Road.

Deputies say they were called there on September 14 for a truck that struck a utility pole.

Upon arrival, deputies could not find the driver, who was described as a male fleeing the scene on foot.

A search was conducted by medical staff and local firefighters, but the driver was not located.

Deputies located the registered owner of the truck, identified as Thomas Lapp, 37, of Waterloo, and issued him several tickets.

They are returnable to local court.
