What’s happening?

Strong thunderstorms are developing to the west of New York ahead of the cold front that will usher in significantly cooler weather tonight. While the frontal boundary isn’t expected to reach the region until closer to midnight – the strong storms developing out ahead of it could cause problems between 2-6 p.m.

The biggest threats with these storms: Damaging winds, large hail, and even sporadic tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
