Buffalo plated a run in the bottom of the fifth and another in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3, but Rochester answered in the top of the seventh as Lucius Fox smoked a two-run single to extend the lead to 6-3 and give the Red Wings some breathing room.
Rochester added an insurance run in the top of the eighth as Nick Banks smacked his 11th long ball of the season to increase the lead to 7-3. The bullpen held the lead the rest of the way, and the Red Wings grabbed the win to even the series.
Washington nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore made his third rehab start with the Red Wings and tossed four innings of one-run ball.
