The Daily Record and Rochester Business Journal honor Hillier as recipient of Legal Excellence Award

The Daily Record and Rochester Business Journal recently recognized Livingston County Attorney Shannon Hillier for her legal expertise after honoring her with the 2022 Legal Excellence Award for In-House Counsel.  The Legal Excellence Awards were started to pay tribute to all the ways in which legal professionals work to make the Greater Rochester Community stronger.

“The 2022 Legal Excellence Honorees not only value their professional accomplishments, but commit time and resources to civic involvement and make a significant, positive impact on the region,” added Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, Senior Group Publisher of The Daily Record and Rochester Business Journal. “We are pleased to recognize their achievements.”

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to have been selected to receive a Legal Excellence Award for In-House Counsel,” said Hillier who has served Livingston County since 2017.  “It’s truly an honor to have my work recognized by the Rochester Business Journal and The Daily Record – it came as a great surprise, to be frank.”

A legal advisor to the County’s Board of Supervisors and every County officer who is paid in whole or in part through County funds, the County Attorney is responsible for providing advice to County officials when legal issues arise and representing the County’s interests in civil actions and proceedings brought by or against the County, the Board of Supervisors or any County officer.

In addition, Hillier prepares Board Resolutions, local laws, contracts and other various legal documents for the Board of Supervisors and other County departments.

“Serving as Livingston County Attorney over the last five years has been a tremendously rewarding experience.  I’d like to specifically thank the Livingston County Board of Supervisors and County Administrator Ian M. Coyle for their continuous support and encouragement.  I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve Livingston County.”

Hillier, along with other honorees, were recognized on September 19th at an awards celebration at the Hyatt Regency in Rochester.
