The Syracuse Mets erased a three and four-run deficit to defeat the Buffalo Bisons, 9-8, on Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. With the victory, the two teams split the six-game series.
Francisco Alvarez crushed his eighth home run of the season and drove in a career-high five runs to lead the offense. Carlos Rincon smacked his third homer, a game-tying blast to cap off a four-run fifth inning. Jake Mangum smoked a run-scoring single and belted his second long ball, which broke the 8-8 tie in the seventh.
Connor Grey surrendered six runs on six hits over 2 2/3 innings. Eric Orze allowed a pair of runs in relief, while the rest of the bullpen combined for five shutout frames.
Syracuse will get the day off on Monday before they begin their final road series of the season on Tuesday against the Worcester Red Sox.
