Rochester Red Wings cruise past Lehigh Valley in series finale

The Rochester Red Wings cruised past the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 12-2, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field. With the victory, Rochester won five of six in the series.

Rochester pounded out 22 hits, with everyone in the starting lineup contributing. Jake Alu collected four hits, four RBIs, including his 10th home run of the season. Onix Vega recorded four hits and two RBIs in his Triple-A debut. Wilmer Perez smacked his first home run and drove in three runs. Lucious Fox, Nick Banks, and Jack Dunn also chipped in with RBIs. Andrew Stevenson notched three hits from the leadoff spot, including a triple.


Patrick Murphy started on the mound and tossed five innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. Matt Brill and Curtis Taylor each fired a scoreless inning in relief, while Francisco Perez surrendered a run over two innings.

The Red Wings will get the day off on Monday before they begin their final road trip of the season on Tuesday in Buffalo against the Bisons.
