Police: One faces felony charges after illegal handgun found in Geneva

Police say that on Thursday, September 15 police were called to a residence on North Genesee Street for a disturbance.

While officers were headed to the residence, dispatch advised them that there was a male with a firearm at the location. Dispatch further advised officers that the male was displaying the firearm in a threatening manner, making threats to kill other people.


Prior to officers arriving, the male was identified as Julio Angel Cruz Jr., 20, of Geneva. He was observed walking away from the residence upon arrival.

He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of an illegal 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

He was charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a weapon. Additional charges are pending, according to police.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
