The Syracuse Mets held on for a 5-3 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium, snapping a four-game skid.
With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Daniel Palka smashed one over the right-field wall to give Syracuse a 5-1 lead. That was his 26th long ball of the season. However, things got interesting in the top of the ninth as Buffalo plated a pair of runs and had the go-ahead run at the plate, but R.J. Alvarez escaped the jam to end the game.
Earlier in the game, Dominic Smith crushed his eighth home run to open the scoring. He recorded three of the team’s six hits.
Joey Lucchesi started on the mound and fired 2 2/3 shutout innings. Tylor Megill surrendered a run in relief, and Yoan López gave up two.
Game five of this six-game series is set for Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
