The Livingston County Board of Supervisors approved a new leader for the County’s Office of Veteran’s Services on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 as David L. Terry was unanimously appointed after having served in an interim capacity since July.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Terry has served as the Deputy Director of Veteran’s Services for the last five years where he has been instrumental in representing the interests of the County’s veterans and their families.
“I’m grateful to the Livingston County Board of Supervisors for their faith in me,” added Terry. “I look forward to continuing to support and assist our veterans and am excited to find ways to collaborate and empower those who served within our County as we strive to create meaningful and impactful programming.”
A graduate of SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Terry has spearheaded the development of numerous initiatives and recently forged a partnership with Veterans One Stop Center of Western New York to engage veterans while also offering events to help foster a sense of community.
In addition, Terry helped to establish a historic collaboration between the County and Genesee Valley BOCES to envision, and ultimately create, the Livingston County Veterans Monument, which was dedicated in 2021. A breathtaking display of military remembrance, the Livingston County Veterans Monument was made with the help of local veterans and is in the shape of the United States Flag adorned with nearly 250 poppies – a symbol of recognition for those who gave their life in service to our nation.
“We’re very pleased to see David appointed as Director of the Office of Veteran’s Services,” said David LeFeber who serves as the Chair of the Board of Supervisors. “His dedication and passion for our veterans in unwavering and we look forward to building upon the successes that his office has come to embody.”
