Syracuse Mets fall short in extra-inning loss to Buffalo

The Syracuse Mets fell short in a 2-1 loss to the Buffalo Bisons in 10 innings on Wednesday night at NBT Bank Stadium. With the loss, Syracuse has dropped three consecutive games.

New York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer made a rehab start and allowed a run over 3 2/3 innings while walking one and striking out seven.

With the Mets trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jake Mangum ripped an RBI double to left field to tie the game.

After the game went into extra innings, Buffalo jumped back in front in the top of the 10th on a sacrifice fly. Syracuse had an opportunity in the bottom of the frame as Dominic Smith came to the plate with runners on the corners and two outs, but he struck out looking to end the game.

Syracuse will try to snap its skid on Thursday. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
